Why are the techs sitting in their van on their cell phone after they completed the work at my location?
There are multiple facets that line up for us to be successful with any customer visit. One of them is documenting what we found/accomplished during our visit to your location. This information is best captured during and just after our work. Depending on connectivity we may complete our digital notes before, during or after our work at your location. This task is part of your work and billable to you.
How much does new HVAC equipment cost?
Equipment installation pricing can vary, depending on what brand and efficiency of equipment you want to look at. With a little information from you we can typically provide a good budget estimate digitally so you can determine direction. We can provide a wide range of pricing for you. In this day and age we encourage you to always add the word “installed” to your internet cost search. The old adage “You get what you pay for” applies. Be wary of contractors that show up with vans that don’t clearly identify who they are or have State required license numbers indicated. The best way to get a definitive price is to have one of our specialists come to the house and discuss all of your options.
What temperature should I set my thermostat at?
There are many opinions on what temperature to set your thermostat to. Remember, comfort always trumps energy savings. We suggest you “set it and forget it.” It makes no sense to roll back your thermostat to save energy use when you are at work for the day only to return home and make your HVAC system work harder (using more energy) to get you comfortable. In fact, it uses more energy and wears on the system components quicker. You didn’t unplug your refrigerator when you went to work in the morning so why would you unplug your HVAC system to try to save energy?
How do I clean my outdoor AC unit?
We will gladly show you how to inspect your outdoor condensing unit coil for cleanliness for absolutely free during any regular scheduled maintenance visit. Keeping this coil clean is just as important as keeping a clean air filter in your system. Heat pump condensing units naturally clean their condenser coils during the winter defrost cycle. Air conditioning only condensing units do not have this luxury. Sometimes you can go for years without cleaning the condensing unit coil and sometimes, after a heavy pollen year, you have to clean in multiple times. Condenser coils are fragile, so never use high pressure water to clean them. When in doubt, call us out!
How does NU CALGON’s iWave work?
The iWave R uses bi-polar ionization to charge particles in the air, which then end up being collected at the filter.
Are your technicians required to use PPE (personal protection equipment)?
Yes, we take all the precautions necessary, both to comply with local municipality’s requirements and to keep everyone safe.
What brands does your company sell?
We proudly service, maintain and install MITSUBISHI, YORK and BRYANT products. We can and do service other manufactured products on a case by case basis.
How long does it take to install a Mitsubishi mini split unit?
We are the only company in the region that has the ability to install multi-zone Mitsubishi mini split systems in one (1) business day.
What kind of filter should I use, and when should I change it?
It depends on the type of HVAC system you have. Usually 1” Pleated Media MERV 8 filters work best, however you must be sure the HVAC system has enough static pressure available to support the pressure loss for the air filter you utilize. Follow the manufacturers guidelines regarding air filter choice and change frequency.
